Day 0
Today is the big day - Day 0 - transplant day. Still recovering from all that chemo and radiation but feeling somewhat human. Completed my 7 days restriction to my room and doctors wanted me to get up and move around. i took a walk down the hall to the video room preparing for the Boston marathon (actually just trying to work my way up to making it further down the hall to the kitchen) Got a little closer to nurse Nikki today - have her promising to bake me some cookies when ive been engrafted for at least 3 days. Shes a big red sox fan and asked me what kind of cookie i wanted so i requested them with the Yankee emblem! My donor bone marrow arrived on the floor at 8 pm and i was hooked up and actually started receiving it at 9 and it was done by 10. It looked just like a big bag of blood, just like the transfusions ive had in the past but this is much more meaningful. After this i will be a new man - maybe as powerful as Chuck Norris - Walker Texas Ranger. . .you know how no one can ever stop him!

Hi T!!
This is my second attemptto Blog so if you get two similar messages its because i dont know where the first one went!! : ( i am very technically challenged and probably was a bit too smug just finding this window!!
We are soooooo happy for Day 1!!! What a new man you will be!! Do you think you will have a British accent now?? Better British blood then Boston blood!! Oh my that may have you turned you into a Red Sox fan!! Although we all have a special affection for Boston now because they are taking good care of you! Especially those nurses!! Your dad must be envious! : )
Today your new life begins!!! Keep up the GREAT positive attitude! You really need to write a book because you describe your situation with such humorous truth!
LIVESTRONG favorite nephew!!
with love and prayers!

Hi Taylor,
I've have been waiting for this day for you. It is a new beginning, a REBIRTH!. I'm thinking of all the possibilites(not in any specific order of course): 1.You trade that Jeep for a mini van 2. You trade XBOX 360 for a PS2 3. You have the urge to take all HONORS classes next year 4. You start ordering seafood 5. You start cheering for the RED SOX.
HAPPY REBIRTHDAY. I'm thinking of you every day. Keep the faith.
Love and Hugs

Hey Taylor,
I'm so happy for you that this day FINALLY arrived. The new you! Woohoo! Hey does this mean you will get a new nickname? You know, your Aunt Deb and I wanted to call you TJ (for Taylor James) when you were born - but your mother wouldn't let us. :-(
I have to admit I was a little nervous about this Friday the 13th date, but Grandma always thought 13 was her lucky number because your mom and I were both born on the 13th of the month.** And now you're being "reborn" on the 13th! You most definitely inherited her inner strength so maybe 13 will become your lucky number too. :-)
**(I used to ask her "are you SURE it was your LUCKY number?" ha ha ha ha)
All our love!
